Over 100,000 businesses and millions of people use 1Password to protect their most important information, and we believe those people – and the companies they work for – shouldn’t have to choose between security and productivity. We see security as a human challenge, rather than a technological one. It’s hard work, but our mission has always been to ease the tension between security and convenience and help people navigate the digital world without fear or friction. Human-centric security is part of our DNA, but human-centricity is also the backbone of our culture. We encourage big ideas and new ways of working that help us to make the online world a safer place for everyone.

Team Summary

The User Lifecycle & Growth team owns features that expand our user base, encourage more active/broader use of our products, and retain users. The team’s goals revolve around reducing friction for users to get started with 1Password and ultimately become the fans that we all know and love. We build features that upsell, cross-sell, and make it easy for our future customers to say “yes” to our product.

Remote by design. 1Password has been remote-first since our inception in 2005, meaning that we’re no stranger to building digital community and culture. With our teams fully remote and located all around the world, we stay connected through company-wide events, coffee chats, fun Slack channels, and peer-to-peer recognition through Bonusly — just to name a few. Our remote environment means that you have the flexibility to make those midday workout classes, take your dog out for a walk when they need one, and run errands on your own schedule. As an intern, you can expect to set core hours with your manager, and then work when you’re at your best. We all thrive in different conditions, so we encourage you to make your workday work for you! 💙

This is a remote opportunity within Canada. This position will be for 4 months - May 2023 to August 2023.

Job responsibilities:

  • Implement or improve features that help users new and old onboard to the 1Password experience across all of our apps, browser extension, and beyond.

  • Help us improve the overall quality of 1Password for its millions of users by developing new methods to automate testing and detect regressions before they make it to production.

  • Implement or improve features that help reduce the barrier to entry / friction for new users to 1Password.Implement or improve features that help drive increased adoption from more users to grow our existing userbase.

  • Work on exciting projects that we haven't even thought up yet!

What we're looking for:

  • Have a passion for the customer: We are here because of our customers and for our customers (both administrators and regular people). A passion to improve their experience in all the facets of what we offer, and to make it easy for our future customer prospects to say “yes” to 1Password.

  • Are innovative and curious: A desire to question the status quo. An ability to look at all the angles of a problem and try something new and unexpected that we haven’t thought of before.

  • Have a growth mindset: Understanding the value of giving and receiving feedback in order to highlight both strengths and growth opportunities. Understanding the value of failing fast. Intentionally getting uncomfortable as an individual and team to grow our horizons.

  • Are team centric: Understanding the balance between going heads down to get things done while leveraging the team to accelerate that process. Diversity in skills and thought will generate a superior product.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience writing Kotlin, Java, Rust, Typescript, Swift or Go.

  • Personal experience using 1Password (or other password managers).

Even if you don't tick all those boxes, we'd like to hear from you.

The most important thing you can bring to this job is the drive to dive in, get the work done, and fix root causes instead of treating symptoms. We believe in continuous learning and support professional development on the job with a budget to back it up. If you bring a desire to do the right thing for our customers, a sense of ownership over the product you work on, and a focus on shipping quality code, we want to hear from you.

This role will close on February 15, 2023
